First Half:
The opening exchanges saw both teams trying to dictate tempo and carve out opportunities, but neither side truly threatened in the final third.
Apollon thought they had their breakthrough in the 36th minute when Diego Dorregaray found the net, but the striker was correctly ruled marginally offside. Just before the interval, in 45+4’, Dorregaray came agonisingly close again his towering header rattling the crossbar. The half ended goalless, with frustration visible on both benches.
Second Half:
Apollon came out firing after the restart, immediately testing APOEL’s resilience. In a chaotic 48th minute, they unleashed a triple chance: Wouter’s shot was denied by Belec, Boli’s rebound was blocked almost on the line, and finally Boisgard’s effort crashed against the crossbar.
Despite enjoying possession, Apollon couldn’t turn dominance into goals. APOEL, meanwhile, waited patiently for their chance and nearly stole it in the 80th minute when Laifis’s header clipped the woodwork.
Final Whistle:
The match fizzled out in the final stages, with neither side able to find a decisive touch. At full-time, the scoreboard remained stubbornly at 0–0 a result that reflected the balance of play, but one that will leave both teams feeling they could have taken more.
